If you fancy a Japanese izakaya style of dining overlooking Dubai’s skyline, then Zuma Dubai must be on your wish list.
Zuma offers an informal yet sophisticated style of eating and drinking and, happens to be a comfort food restaurant for many. I was quite titillated both the times I visited Zuma ‘cos I (personally) found the vibe of this place quite effortless and chic. Their contemporary twist to the Japanese cuisine is quite on point!
Zuma is perfect for date nights, business lunches, bestie dates and “let’s grab a drink at a snazzy bar” kinda plans.
Almost always booked, this place needs a reservation well in advance.
If you are in Dubai, then you can just not afford to miss out on this place.
Zuma Dubai is an experience in itself.
I still cannot get over the ambience, vibe, service and the food served at Zuma.
In my humble opinion, it most certainly deserves a Michelin Star rating.
OKAY, so I am not going to jabber on anymore and head straight to the point…
What to order at Zuma?
Steamed Japanese Spinach with sesame sauce
This cold Spinach bathed in a nutty sesame dressing is one of the most popular accompaniments in the Japanese cuisine. The very first bite will blow your mind away! And yes, it’s a SALAD.
This Spinach salad has inspired me to explore all kinds of salads in the world and I intend to start going out on salad dates. (R, make a note of this please. )
Needless to say, this was one of best salads I’ve ever eaten.
Salmon and tuna tartare with oscietra caviar
From not being a fan of sea food to dreaming about this dish, I believe only a restaurant like Zuma can make people fall in love with anything and everything. If you are at Zuma, you must try this! It’s a compulsion. ALSO, who says no to caviar?
Roasted whole potato
Found under the ‘vegetables’ section of their menu, this piece of art will melt in your mouth and take you to a state of enlightenment. Roasted potato swimming in shiso (pungent and grassy flavour) chilli ponzu (a citrus based sauce commonly used in the Japanese cuisine) butter holds the potential of being recognised as one of the finest potato dishes in the world.
Spicy beef tenderloin with sesame, red chilli and sweet soy
If you enjoy beef then this dish has been created for you. And if you haven’t tried beef and want to take a plunge by adding beef in your food preferences, then you must start with this dish. You will set a good standard for yourself if you do so. Stellar quality, I must say!
Once you introduce your taste buds to baby chicken, then there’s no looking back.
The finest kind of meat, baby chicken at Zuma is oven roasted on cedar wood and will take you on a gastronomic fiesta.
A must must have for all the chicken whores out there!
You can visit Zuma for some amazing cocktails and cleansers as well. Its’ bar and sake lounge has become a stable fixture on Dubai’s social scene.
What left me in awe was that no matter which day of the week I went, I found Zuma Dubai crowded. For example – they didn’t have a table for two available till 11 PM on a Wednesday night.
You know what this implies, don’t you?
Which of these dishes compel you to fly to Dubai just to visit Zuma?(hypothetically, of course)
