Skincare Diary | Celebrate the Skin you’re in | Self-love & Gratitude

Folks, it’s been a while since I’ve waffled on about my all time favorite topic- SKINCARE!

If you’ve been following me on Instagram & Facebook, you’d know that I’m a lab geek who gets super stoked about ‘Skincare’ so this blog post is dedicated to some of the marvelous products you all must consider getting your hands on!!!

Why ‘invest’ in ‘Skincare’?

Skin is the largest organ of your body. So, don’t you feel it deserves the maximum attention, adulation & time from your side?

Plus it’s the first thing you notice about yourself when you walk up to a mirror every morning; oh and it’s also the foremost thing a stranger spots when he/she looks at you. A healthy skin can leave a very calming impression and pumps oodles of confidence for many. If you are addicted to/ obsessed with wearing a foundation & concealer each time you step out it’s most likely that you aren’t comfortable in the skin you’re in.

Always remember that if you don’t take care of your skin when you are younger, it’s going to give you a very hard time when you’re older.

Facts, Tips & Tricks to hold on forever!

Skincare (just like Beauty) can get overwhelming if you allow it to take over your sanity. Here’s what ideally needs to be followed during a morning or evening skincare routine.

Step 1- Removing your make-up if you happen to have any!

This can be done with a cleansing milk or a liquid make-up remover. If you go for wipes, make sure they are organic and biodegradable (please). Good quality facial wipes are always expensive (if yours are cheaper or affordable, check the ingredients asap) so prefer to use a proper remover with cotton pads that are meant for your facial skin.

Step 2- Cleansing / Using a mild face wash!

This makes sure your pores are clean as a whistle from all the left over make up and make-up removing product. This can be your first step if you don’t wear any make-up. Make sure you do this twice a day.

Step 3- Toning it up!

The skin game is nothing but the pH game. If the pH is balanced, skin is healthy. Toner plays the role of balancing the pH on your skin so it must be chosen wisely. Rose Water is an excellent toner (fyi). What toners also do is, they close your pores (which are left open after cleansing) plus clean up excess make-up if any!

There are miraculous products in the market which have some active ingredients that hold the potential of swiftly ZHUZHING up your skin. *wink*

Step 4- Hydrate your skin with oodles of Serum!

Most of the times people confuse lifeless (lack of glowing) skin with dry skin. Thanks to the pollution and level of Global Warming going through the roof, our skin has become perpetually dehydrated.

Serums (applied before moisturizers) are a chock full of moisturizing ingredients (hyaluronic acid, ceramides, etc.) that hydrate the skin really well because their molecules are easily absorbed by the upper layer of the skin which eventually ends up holding water (moisture) for longer.

These can be water based (light) and oil based.

If you are using both then apply a water based serum first and then the oil based serum (after 2-3 minutes).

Please understand that serums are lighter in texture and that’s what makes them easy to absorb by the skin! Face creams/ lotions/ moisturizers are richer and must be applied 2 minutes after the serum to kind of lock that moisture & goodness in! *wink*

If you have pores that POP out like POPSICLE (lmfao), serums will help you calm ‘em down!

Why?

‘cause serums when used religiously leave your skin firmer, smoother, hydrated thus reducing pores.

Pores pop out only so that you skin in inhale (take in) more moisture to stay healthy. It’s basically your skin’s defence mechanism against lack of hydration!

Step 5- Moisturizing is key!

This probably is a step no human should skip ever! This is what keeps your skin youthful and healthy.

If you leave your skin dry even for a day, it will fall prey to premature ageing aka WRINKLES. Go for a moisturizer that works best for your skin type. Make sure your moisturizer is ‘not tinted’, paraben free, sulphate free, fragrance free and without any SPF. A moisturizer like so can act as a good night cream as well!

Step 6- Suck up to your Sunblock!

Seal the deal by ending your Skincare routine with a 30 SPF ++ sunscreen. Make sure you apply this 10 mins after your moisturizer and 20 mins before stepping out in the sun.

All the make-up junkies out there, don’t you ever wear your foundation (or BB cream or CC Cream or Concealer-Compact Combo) without doing the above steps. It’s a Skincare sin to leave your skin high and dry before wearing make-up.

The Maven Lifestyle recommends any sunscreen that is good enough to be used on babies simply because baby products USUALLY are way milder than any other products.

Step 7- Body Care

Investing in Skincare doesn’t mean just focusing on your face and neck, it also means paying attention and giving love to your body, your temple. Make sure you get your hands on the best quality of organic body oils and each time you step out of the shower, nourish your body with these! You must feed your body with stellar quality body butters, oils, lotions depending on your skin type (dry, very dry or normal). Also, make sure you nicely scrub your entire bod with the nicest smelling (calming & pampering) sugar scrub to bid adieu to the dead skin that your typical body wash can’t get rid of!

Step BASIC- Attitude of Gratitude while you’re indulging in your skincare regimen!

One thing I would strongly recommend is, each time you do your skincare routine, practice Gratitude in your head.

Have a conversation with the Creator or your Master (Guru) or the Universe thanking them for 3-5 the things you have in your life right now; these things can be small or big, superficial or profound, tangible or non-tangible; it doesn’t matter. The only thing that matters is HOW GRATEFUL YOU ARE FOR WHAT YOU ALREADY HAVE BECAUSE WHEN YOU ARE THANKFUL & APPRECIATIVE OF WHAT’S IN YOUR LIFE RIGHT NOWWW, YOU TELL THE UNIVERSE THAT YOU ARE WORTHY & READY FOR MOOORRREEE!!!

Doing this step will ensure that you are nourishing your soul as well.

I really hope this blog post pushes you to go out there and bring your focus from the outside clutter back to your own self- your mind, mind & spirit.

Spread love and kindness everywhere you go and always start this with your own self. If you aren’t kind to your own body, then you can’t be kind to anyBODY!

Comment below, which of these products or steps are your favorite and which of these you wish to include in your routine. You’ve no idea how much I appreciate & adore your comments!

Love & Gratitude,
