Mirchi and Mime | The Maven Recommendation

It’s surprising how we don’t like to censor ourselves so that our near and dear ones KNOW how we feel and what we feel. However, there are some extremely special individuals who’ve been put in a situation where they are made to believe that ‘little said is easily mended’.

This blog post is dedicated those gifted souls.

Being a foodie and sucker for unique food experiences, I am more than grateful that my baby bro dragged me to Mirchi and Mime. A big shout-out to Bharat Gurnani for this.

Why so special?

This local restaurant located in Powai, Mumbai is known for two things –

1. Lip smacking Indian food and

2. It’s staff that is a team of oh-so-warm & welcoming angels with hearing and speech disability

Driven to serve the best food.

Yes, you got that right. Most of the staff at Mirchi and Mime can neither hear clearly nor speak. And the whole menu is designed in order to allow one to follow some basic sign language in order to communicate with the staff.

A menu to remember

Inspiration in itself.

Restaurants like these are worth a mention as they are doing their bit towards the society whilst serving super scrumptious food.

It’s funny how we (normal and overly blessed individuals) fuss about our problems that include not being able to draw a nice bath as a result of our busy schedules; or crib about not losing a couple of pounds and not being able to get a good workout in. :-/

Here, on the other hand are some champions who are forever putting a happy-brave face on and serving good food with a welcoming heart. 😀

What to order?

Paneer Bhurji Tacos

Yummy paneer bhurji stuffed in theplas with the look and feel of tacos was our best pick. Super filling and super awesome  for paneer lovers.

Sufiyani Chicken Biryani

All the biriyani lovers out there, this is one of THE MOST self sufficient biriyanis I’ve ever had.

Well, it’s extremely juicy and HOW!The Maven Lifestyle_By Aakansha Gurnani

Southhall Saag Paneer

Paneer swimming around in creammmyyyy and  delectable sarson and palak. Need i say more?

Well I hope I had gone with a bigger group or a larger appetite but it seems the quantity Mirchi and Mime serves, is more than one can ask for. I also loved the ambience, service and crowd for the price Mirchi and Mime offers.

I would very strongly recommend this place to one and all. When in Mumbai, no matter how many interesting plans you’ve cooked up, DO visit Mirchi and Mime for its savoury offerings and to meet some real life superheros!

Next on my list is…

Dans le noir, Paris

This restaurant in Paris, serves food in complete darkness. It has visually impaired staff serving food in a pitch dark ambience to its guests. It has some impeccable reviews and interesting anecdotes that you MUST read at –

I wish I knew of this place back in 2011 when I visited Paris with my folks. But, there’s always another time …

{hope my fiancé is reading this} :-p
