Health Revelations | Truth you deserve to be told

Dear Readers, Health & Fitness happens to be one of the most important aspects of our life, whether we like it or not. It’s also now become a money-minting industry where 

a huge chunk of food companies, 

mean players of the pharma industry, 

unethical medical praticioners and 

uptight food scientists 

are doing anything & everything possible to load up their bank accounts by spreading utmost lies. 

Unfortunately those of us who haven’t been exposed to the right kind of people are on the receiving end of this messed up situation. So here I am yet again striving to puncture some common myths that are now being accepted as FACTS. It bums me out when I see not just my clients but my friends & family making poor food (& lifestyle) choices assuming they’re doing great. So, without further ado, let’s crack on with some health revelations you & your entire family & friend circle deserves to know.

-> Exercising makes you lose weight. One hour of exercise per day is a must.

This is the worse myth we all have fallen prey to. Exercise does not help you lose weight, eating right does. If you work out 1 hour everyday and not watch your food (meaning overeat or undereat), you will not see any results. In fact, over exercising puts your body in an extremely stressful mode. Therefore, working out 7 days a week in one hour slots is just not needed. 30-40 minutes of workout is enough for your body to reap the benefits of exercise. 

Unfortunately, gyms & fitness classes only sell one hour slots because that helps them make more money. Please listen to your body while exercising and know that 40 minutes is enough for you to step out of your comfort zone. Another issue with this myth is that most of you think working out one hour day and spending resting of the day chilling is okay. 

It’s not! 

Sedentary lifestyle chips away the quality of life. 

Working out, eating right and living an active lifestyle is a must if you want to release weight & stay fit! For every 30 minutes you sit, stand up, walk around or stretch for 3 full minutes. 

If you choose not to do so, you’re doomed!


-> Cardio is important for your body if weight loss is a major goal.

Running on a treadmill and burning 100s of calories on the elliptycal machine is going to do you no good. Nor will running 5km every other day. Cardio vascular exercises are good once in a while to get your cardiovasucular system going efficiently. These however, need to be clubbed with strength training/ resistance-based exercises. If you keep doing aeroics, zumba, running, jogging, cycling, dancing without making your weight bearing joints strong, you are making your body extremely vulnerable to fracture. Weight training helps focus on compound as well as isolated movements. These movements strengthen joints by adding a weight and making them work with that weight. 

This a beautiful yet gradual way of building muscle mass whilst burning fat mass.

If you’re indulging in cardio based workouts, it’s time to spiff up your headspace and hop over to strength training at least 3 times a week for 40 minutes. This has to be done with a trainer till you are confident enough to lift all by yourself. It’s a bit of an investment but totally worth it.

-> You NEED to consume more protein!

Have you ever heard of anyone having protein deficiency?

No, right?!

Well simply because it does not exist. 

Food companies have created this myth to instil fear and sell (artificial) protein based products to mint money. In fact, excess protein gets converted into fat and leaves your body in a highly acidic state. Please use your common sense and do not run after protein like it’s some kind of a ‘kohinoor diamond’ because it’s not. It’s abundant and available in a plethora of foods such as lentils, legumes, dark green leafy veggies, broccoli, rice, prunes, raisins, chickpeas so on & so forth. So go easy on protein. Also, you do not need to consume chunks and chunks of eggs & chicen breasts in the hope of getting enough protein. A wholesome vegetarian diet is divine beyond all measures and does wonders for your body, your temple!

-> Egg whites will help you build muscle mass.

Food Industries spend millions of dollars on marketing. This means they can spread any message by collaborating with any influencer/celebrity/food scientists who are hungry for money to convince you that what they are selling is good for you. You remember the marketing campaign that had a tagline

“Sunday ho ya Monday, roz khao anday”

{Translation: Whether it’s Sunday or Monday, consume eggs everyday}

These food companies have gone to extremes to convince the public how healthy eggs are!

The bitter truth is that, every single egg these companies sell are filled with antibiotics.

Chickens are being pumped with antibiotics to lay more and more eggs to meet the current demand. These chickens are locked up in a cage, fed grains (instead of grass) and injected with growth hormones & antibiotics so that the companies can sell more eggs and reap bigger profits.

When you consume these antibiotic pumped eggs, you are consuming those and harming your body in ways your conscious mind cannot even fathom. Over consumption of eggs results in a major imbalance in the endorine system (hormones).

If you can avoid eggs, awesome!

If you’re a maniacal hoodlum who is obsessed with eggs and just cannot do without ‘em, then I’d suggest consume them 3 times a week and make sure you are purchasing ORGANIC, FREE-RANGE, GMO-free eggs from a trusted source.

Also, eggs that come from free-range (grass-fed) chickens should be consumed with the yolk because it’s the yolk that is LOADED with nutrients. Consuming just the egg white leaving the yolk behind is as good as eating the wrapper and throwing away the chocolate- lol!!! My point being that if you’re consuming an organic egg that is free-range & GMO free, then please have the yolk as well. Do not separate nature like this! Whoever tells you to consume the white & dispose the yolk is in dire need of HELP!
