Up until last year, I understood (quite clearly) the importance of gratitude but never really envisioned the magnitude of impact it can have on our lives.
We are all living in a rut constantly chasing things in the hope that the things that we are blindly running after will bring us happiness. As a result of this rat race, we end up neither enjoying the journey towards our goal, nor the goal itself.
It seems that we have forgotten the feeling of contentment.
Such a shame, right?
The reason this is happening to us is that not enough people around us are talking about gratitude as MUCH as they should. There’s a big hue and cry around meditation, prayer, karma, so on and so forth but who’s going to talk about gratitude?
There have been innumerable videos and blogs on the Secret , Law of Attraction, etc. These will give you a plethora of really powerful techniques. After watching a dozen videos, I remember coming across a video a few months ago that said – if your law of attraction or manifestation technique ain’t working, it’s simply because
you aren’t thankful for what you currently have.
Long story cut short, you are not practicing gratitude everyday.
I know a lot of people (including myself) who want to meditate more but aren’t too sure where to begin.
So here’s a little technique that I have been following and has really made me a much happier and grateful person .
Start with …
The more thankful you are; the more there is to be thankful about. Trust me, once you start doing this, you will become a much more positive individual. 🙂
Pen down 3 things/moments of joy that you’ve had in the last 24 hours. 3 things/people/experiences you are thankful for and why. If you don’t want to write it – recite it in your head.
It’s best if you maintain a gratitude journal.
It always helps, I promise.
2. Affirmations & Manifestation
Everything that you want to be, or wish to have in your life; pen it down, word by word. Pretend like you have it already and visualise it for 3-5 minutes. This will not just give you more clarity in terms of what you desire, but also allow you to believe that it IS possible.
However, I believe it’s my responsibility to highlight a fact that…we all make choices or come across situations in life purely based on our karmic charts. If our karmic chart DOES NOT permit a particular wish/desire/experience, then no matter how much we pray for it, it does not come our way.
Why do you think karma is called a bitch?
Does this mean we should stop making affirmations, visualisations?
You gotta do, what you gotta do and leave the rest to the universe.
You gotta do the needful and the trust the Universe and its divine timing.
3. Blessings for loved ones
One of the spiritual laws of success is …
The more you give, the more you get.
We are part of the universe which is a collective energy of one and all. People around us must be looked after with unconditional love and zero judgment.
This means that every time we work on ourselves (pray for ourselves), we must make it a point to pray for our loved ones (alive or departed) as well.
These people could be your family, friends, acquaintances or even house help. Blessings for them must come with a positive heart and happy place. Don’t bless them for anything materialistic (not that you can’t), instead send them love, strength, positive energy and wisdom to take better decisions.
Make these 3 a religious practice and see how it changes the way you feel and react to extreme situations around you.
