2018 has been quite an eventful year I must say!
2019, is the year I choose to dedicate to my clients and readers. I am going to write more, share more and raise awareness on topics that move me, unapologetically.
In this blog post I will be sharing 7 TIPS with you that will empower you with a glowing skin and a head full of healthy hair.
->1-> Focus on your gut health by ensuring that your diet is leaving your system alkaline.
Gut Health is a topic people are taking seriously only as a last resort. The first thing people do when they suffer from a dis-ease is run to a doctor to pop in a bunch of antibiotics. If a 5 day dose of these meds don’t show results, then, another 5 days of antibiotic dose is prescribed. Uffff!
Recovery from dis-ease & good health?
Taking antibiotics after antibiotics simply fucks up the bacterial lining in your gut (digestive system) making the whole of it acidic. An acidic system welcomes auto-immune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, celiac disease, thyroiditis, etc. Also, an acidic system does not retain nutrients from whatever little healthy food you must be taking.
So, all you need to do in order to have healthy skin & hair is EAT HOME-COOKED HEALTHY FOOD by completely cutting down on packaged & processed foods (like corn flakes, digestive biscuits, bhujiya sev, cheetos, chips so on & forth).
A wholesome diet free from packaged junk is all you need to incorporate in your lifestyle.
Yes, it’s that simple. You won’t need expensive medication or botox injections and hair implants if you eat well. 99% of the people fail to do this really simple step.
Also, we are now becoming a species that wants fast results and a healthy diet needs at least 6 weeks to show improvement.
Your 5 years of eating junk will need at least 6-8 weeks to heal, right?
Anyway, actionable steps
Incorporate the following in your diet every single day:
#1 cup of rice as rice is a very rich source of protein, calcium, & iron .
#1 cup of dark green leafy vegetables.
#1 cup of lentils (dal).
#1 glass of lemon water with mint leaves as a filler in between meals.
#A tall glass of Wheatgrass juice.

->2-> Focus on your fat intake. Do you know what healthy fats are?
The biggest reason your skin is suffering and your hair is lacking its natural shine is the deprivation of healthy fats in your body. Healthy Fats of omega 3 & 6 moisturize your joints internally and give your brain all the nutrients it needs to keep your skin’s pH in check. Yes, again the pH level holds a ton of value.
I’d strongly recommend you to
# Start cooking is pure ghee (not Haldiram or Govardhan brand ghee, pure ‘gaushala’ ghee).
# Alternatively cook in til ka tel (sesame oil) or groundnut oil or coconut oil, these will do wonders to you body.
# Stay the fuck away from vegetable oil, corn oil, sunflower oil- these are creating a havoc in your body.
# Have a handful of cashews/almonds/walnuts every day. But please ensure that the almonds & walnuts are soaked in water overnight!
# Add roasted groundnut powder & flax seed powder to your meals. You can sprinkle these in your dal, sabzis, dahi, etc.
->3-> Educate & flood your system with antioxidants.
Free radicals are unstable molecules in our body which are a by product of all the unhealthy food we consume and all the radiation, pollution & sun damage we expose our skin to. These are the culprits that cause heart diseases and various types of cancer.
What attacks these little horrendous monsters?
Antioxidants not just destroy these free radicals but also do wonders to our skin. They slow down (sometimes as good as reverse) aging, firm our skin (so goodbye to wrinkles and smile lines around our lip & eyes), treat scars & discoloration on skin, repair sun damage and most importantly have anti-inflammatory properties.
Antioxidant-rich foods are the best types of foods you can bless your body with.
To make your diet rich in antioxidants, start consuming
# 1 small cup of blueberries everyday (if grown locally) or
# 1 small cup of strawberries everyday (if grown locally) or
# 1 small cup of rasberries everyday (if grown locally) or
# 1 cup of grapes everyday (if grown locally) or
# Garlic, turmeric (haldi) & curry tree leaves (kadi patta) tadka in your sabzis/dal/sauteéd veggies everyday.
->4-> Consume foods rich in zinc, copper, vitamin C & folic acid.
We often forget to keep a tab on our vitamin & mineral intake. These are micronutrients that play a macro-level role in our bodies.
Start indulging in the following asap to see quick results
# Dark Chocolate (80% and above, organic)
->5-> Indulge in rigorous body & head massages. Never underestimate the power of good ol’ oils!
Proper circulation of blood is imperative for your body to work at it’s optimum level. Massages help our lymphatic system flush out toxins and focus on absorbing more nutrients that are available in the blood stream. No matter how healthy you eat, if you don’t put your lymphatic system to use, you won’t get the miraculous results you desire.
You can do so by
# Getting regular facials done from a therapist who gives you an orgasmic facial massage. Whether you’re a man or a woman, trust me, your body needs this.
# Go for full body massages once every month. If you’re not a massage lover, then go for foot reflexology at least once in 20 days.
# Give yourself or ask your Mommy or partner to give you a rigorous head massage using coconut oil or olive oil every week.
# Indulge in yoga or pilates or weight training or a rigorous stretching session thrice a week at least.
->6-> Belly breathe 50 times in a day and bid adieu to “stress”.
Never underestimate the power of breathing like a baby. If you haven’t noticed, it’s high time you gawk at babies to see how wonderfully they breathe; you will observe their bellies going up & down which is actually the only way to breathe. Chest breathing is not advisable so replace that with breathing deeply from your belly. You will not just observe your body getting fitter but also your skin & hair majorly improving by simply belly breathing.
Science behind it?
Well, the geek that I am, I couldn’t resist sharing the reasoning behind belly breathing with you-:
When you breathe from your belly, you activate the parasympathetic nervous system (automatically relaxing the sympathetic nervous system) thus balancing all the hormones in the body and putting the fight-flight mode to rest. This in turn changes your brain wave to alpha which is meditative & therapeutic. In this state, your body is at it’s maximum efficiency of digestion, healing, rest & recovery. When your body efficiently performs the aforementioned tasks, your skin and hair also get all the love & nourishment they deserve.
->7-> Your skin is a reflection of how you think the world perceives you & the world perceives you the way you perceive yourself. This means that self-love and acceptance of self is key.
