Hello top-cats! How’s 2018 coming along? Comment below!
As for me, 2018 started with a fabulous first holiday as Mrs. !!!
Now, this wasn’t my first visit to Singapore and isn’t my last one either! Yep, it is one of those places I wouldn’t mind visiting again (and again, and again).
Simply because, it’s forever growing. The last time I was in Singapore, it was half as developed as it is today. The pace with which Singapore is marching forward, it looks like it’s ONLY going to house the cream crowd of the world (especially with the way it’s standard of living is going UP)!
Something for Everyone
What I personally love about this city is that it has got everything for EVERYONE- be it kids, my fellow millennials, adventure seekers, nature babies, food enthusiasts, art connoisseurs, shopaholics, chillers, so on and so forth! Speaking of which, I must tell you that it’s impossible to explore the whole of Singapore in just one trip, provided you stay for over ten days!
It’s unfair (on my part, I feel) to talk about the rise of Singapore and not mention (Late) Mr. Lee Kuan Yew, former Prime Minister of Singapore who is held responsible for turning Singapore from a third world country to a first world country in just a couple of decades! His leadership was tough and not understood by many but nevertheless respected by all!

GARDENS BY THE BAY
is a 101 hectares of reclaimed land in central Singapore that was transformed into a nature park by the government back in 2011. The vision behind this beauty was to offer a delightful space to explore and enjoy by one and all!
Gardens by the Bay is most definitely NOT one of those places that you can explore in a day’s time…in fact, it’s a place that is enjoyed like wine, one
sip visit at a time!
Various attractions that make up Gardens by the Bay an absolute paradise are-
Flower Dome, Cloud Forest, Supertree Grove, OCBC Skyway, Heritage Gardens, World of Plants, etc. Now, one has to look up, pick & choose a place they’d fancy on a given day.
R and I chose to explore the OCBC Skyway connecting the Supertrees, and Cloud Forest.
SUPERTREE GROVE (the OCBC SKYWAY)
One of the most popular yet VERY well kept tourist attractions of Singapore, Supertree Grove is brilliant representation of a vertical garden. The 11 Supertrees that make up the Supertree grove have canopies embedded with environmentally sustainable functions. These unique tree-like structures consist of over 162,000 plants.
Each Supertree is as tall as a 16-storey building, which means that it’s a great spot for enjoying the scintillating Singapore skyline and taking those Insta-worthy pictures 😉 !
A true delight indeed!
Due to time constraint, however, R and I couldn’t visit Supertree Grove in the night when it comes alive with an exhilarating display of light & sound 🙁 !
Nonetheless, there’s always a next time! #EternalOptimist
Also known as a ‘botanical world covered in mist’, Cloud Forest is (for real) a mysterious world veiled in mist. It is made like a 35-metre tall mountain covered in lush vegetation and world’s tallest indoor waterfall.
This conservatory (Cloud Forest) is made up of 2500+ glass panels to cover the whole 12,000 square metre surface area of the dome!
It’s one of the coolest places I’ve EVER been too! You’d be surprised to know that leaving Cloud Forest actually teared me up 🙁 !
The diligent effort, absolute love and awareness with which it has been built, is mind boggling at it’s best!
YOU CANNOT RETURN FROM SINGAPORE WITHOUT VISITING THIS PLACE!!!
Nah-ah! Not allowed!
GX-5 EXTREME SWING
Given the fact that I have done sky diving once and bungee jumping twice, I consider myself an absolute adventure lover… but…this sh*t was scary AF!
- When you’re on this swing, you have NOTHING to hold onto,
- The way you are fastened to your seat gives you zero confidence of being secured and
- YOU are the one who pulls the trigger to drop. So, unless and until YOU pull the trigger for the extreme swing (aka THE DEADLY DROP), you are (literally) stuck in the air!
Do give this a go if you are someone who finds sky diving easy peasy lemon squeezy!
Will I do this again?
PROBABLY NOT :-\ !!!
NOX-DINE IN THE DARK
Ever wondered how food would “feel” like if you were blindfolded?
Well, NOX offers you this experience over a 5 course meal!
Now, the amusing part about this restaurant is that, that you aren’t blindfolded; in fact you are assisted into a (pitch) dark room by the staff and served food by visually impaired waiters!
The dishes served aren’t disclosed while you are in dark room as one has to touch, feel and then eat! The menu isn’t disclosed until after you are out of the dark room.
NOX is an experience that not just made me realise how lucky I am to be blessed with the ability to see but also taught me how sharply my other senses are heightened when one is blocked!
For the record, NOX is a fine dine restaurant that maintains extremely high quality of standard and serves stellar food that you would most certainly want to come back for! Yummmm!!!
I can assure you that NOX will change the way you look at both food and … life!
From extreme sports athlete (snowboarder) to becoming an award-winning chef, Akira Back has made the culinary world go cuckoo-cuckoo with his bold interpretations of Asian fare with American influence!
His creativity is very evident in the way his restaurant (Akira Back) has been designed.
(AB Tacos, Miso Soup, Veg Sushi with Avocado & Caviar and Popcorn Tofu)
Food is fabulous and so is the service! A must-visit for all Asian cuisine enthusiasts!
What makes me superrr happy is the list of cities Akira Back has it’s presence in- Las Vegas, Toronto, Jakarta, Bangkok, Dallas, Dubai, Seoul, Hanoi and New Delhi!
LONG CHIM BY DAVID THOMPSON
(Melrose & Thaisteenie)
Australian chef and restaurantar, David Thompson is of Australian origin who is known for his culinary expertise in (my favourite) Thai cuisine!
His restaurant has been ranked 13th in World’s best restaurants in 2014. The tantalising menu at Long Chim combines Thai street style food with contemporary flavours.
(Green Papaya Salad, Thai Curry, Jasmine Rice and Siam Watercress)
Food, ambience, service game is quite on point at Long Chim. A must-visit for all the Thai food lovers out there!
You know what the most exciting thing about Long Chim is?
It’s located in Marina Bay Sands!!
Is that a smile emerging on your face?
(Thai Milk Tea)
RITZ CARLTON MILLENNIA
Staying at Ritz Carlton Millennia, without a shadow of doubt, was the highlight of my entire honeymoon. With an iconic location in Marina Bay, this luxury hotel offers an elevated Club Lounge experience (level 32) with not just panoramic views of the city but also free flowing lip-smacking food, yummy hot beverages, some really fine wine and super fun cocktails all day long! I have never, EVERRR experienced luxury the way I did at Ritz Carlton Millennia! Their service is probably one of the best in the world and so is the food. It’s probably THE BEST HOTEL of Singapore and rightly so!
Guys, its my unsolicited (yet legit) advice to you that if you ever visit Singapore, you MUST ditch staying in (overcrowded and overhyped) Marina Bay Sands Hotel and splurge on staying at the Ritz instead. Yes, they charge a BOMB but it’s totally, TOTALLY worth it!
DID YOU KNOW?
One is six people in Singapore is a millionaire!!!
Which means an astounding 17% of the population are worth seven figures!!!
What did I say about the standard of living in Singapore earlier?
