26 Things | Life lessons on turning 26

Things I learnt by the time I turned 26…

I’ve always been a curious cat when it came to “livin’ life to one’s maximum potential”; but I feel as I entered my twenties, I become more of a digger. I was always on a quest and got obsessed with asking a million questions and reading a bazillion books. This in turn has led to the following listicle. To jazz it up a little, I’ve put together a fair mix of light-hearted and profound ones. So here it goes:-

1. Life is NOT a paradox and there’s no denying in that. It’s simple, binary and fair!
2. Moisturisers and creams ARE DIFFERENT . Thank you Kiehls.
3. Yoga and Meditation will transform your life and bring you 20 steps closer to your life’s purpose. YES, for all the non-spiritual junkies is out there, there’s a thing called “Life Purpose”. Google it!
4. Not every person you lose is a loss. People come in your life for various reasons. Once their purpose is served, they leave!
5. If your friends aren’t as crazy as you, your life is BORING!

6. If your friends aren’t wiser than you, your life is a MESS!

7. If you don’t practice GRATITUDE in your daily life, you are blocking SUCCESS, period.

8. If you haven’t explored YouTube to its full potential, you’re an idiot. PS… I am NOT talking about those music videos.

9. You are literally an amalgamation of the 5 people you surround yourself with and the 5 people you follow online. I swear!!!

10. You gotta have a healthy (open and full of trust) relationship with your parents. They are really way cooler than you think. (Probably cooler than you)
11. You NEED ALL kinds of friends in life- silly, profound, creative, spiritual, health and fitness junkies, fashionistas, etc.
12. If you don’t practice the Law of Attraction, you are doomed.
13. If you claim to be an atheist, you are a fool.

14. Reading is the most fabulous thing to do for self growth. Books really are your best friends.

15. Travelling is imperative. It does amazing things to your personality!

16. Expressing views (generally) without putting others down is an art that you must learn by the time you are 26.

17. Social Media is the best thing that happened to mankind.

18. Reaching out to the Creator when you’re happy and content in life will ensure that you don’t cry for help during the ‘not so fabulous’ times. Trust me on this!
19. You must give out unconditional love and acceptance to everyone around you without expecting a dime in return. The sooner you learn this, the better.

20. If you don’t work out (or perform any physical activity for at least 5 hours a week) your future body will loathe you. Always pick crunches over brunches.

21. Self castigation is the lowest depth of misery.
22. Karma is NOT a bitch. Infact it’s the most amazing Law of Nature provided you aren’t waiting for it (karma) to screw someone’s life over. Just in case you are, you are creating bad karma for self. Oops!

23. If you don’t spend time with your parents & grandparents, you will regret it later. They are waiting to shower you with their good old wisdom and amazing life experiences.

My family that gets all the credit for bringing R to my life…Gosh, what would I do without you all?

24. Nobody has a perfect family. Every family is lunatic in its own way. Cherish it ‘cos you will laugh about it and miss it later.

25. No love in this world that is purer than a mother’s love.

27. We all are creative… and that creativity is not just about art and crafts; there’s so much more to it.
